Mi'kmaw Kina'matnewey notes "Science Fair" successes from local, to regional to "Natonal" Canada Wide Science Fair participation.

Tamara Cremo and Kendyl Sylliboy were part of the Mi'kmaq contingent that won bronze at the Nationals in Alberta. Tamara and Kendyls' project involved an analysis and survey of disease transmission; also in a medical theme - Aaron Prosper won the actual medal based on his project related to the study of diabetes prevalence in M'kmaq communities.

Mi'kmaq students have been attending the Canada Wide Science Fair for approximately a decade. It is an educational and enriching experience. The top winners from the Mi'kmaq Regional are selected by "National" judges to go on to the next level. The locatons have ranged from Ottawa, to Charlottetown, from Alberta to Quebec. Students have won bronze medals so far, not bad considering some school boards have been participating since the 1950s. Our next goals will be silver, gold and international participation.
